Managing Your Account
Learn how to manage your BillManager account settings.
Account Access
Regular users open account preferences with Settings in the header. For admins, the same button is labeled Admin and opens the unified workspace with Settings, Users, and Bill Groups tabs.
The Settings tab contains language and currency preferences, two-factor authentication, passkeys, linked sign-in providers, and the account danger zone.
Password
If your account is configured to require a password change, BillManager will prompt you with a Change Password dialog after signing in.
- Minimum 8 characters
- Mix of letters and numbers recommended
- Avoid common passwords
Subscription Management
Viewing Your Plan
See your current subscription:
- Click Billing in the header
- View current plan and status
Upgrading
To upgrade your plan:
- Go to Billing settings
- Click "Upgrade"
- Select new plan
- Complete payment
Upgrades take effect immediately.
Downgrading
To downgrade:
- Go to Billing settings
- Click "Change Plan"
- Select lower tier
- Confirm change
Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Usage Tracking
Monitor your usage against plan limits:
| Metric | Your Usage | Plan Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Bills | 8 | 10 |
| Users | 1 | 1 |
| Bill Groups | 1 | 1 |
When approaching limits, you'll see warnings in the interface.
Data Management
Exporting Your Data
Export payment data from Payment History:
- Open Payment History in the sidebar
- Apply any date or bill filters you need
- Choose CSV or PDF export
- Download the generated file
Exports require a paid plan in SaaS mode. Self-hosted deployments do not use SaaS plan limits.
Account Deletion
To delete your account:
- Open Settings (or Admin → Settings if you are an admin)
- In the Danger Zone, click Delete Account
- If your account has a password set, confirm by entering your password
- If your account is OAuth-only (no password), confirm the deletion prompt
- Your account and all data will be permanently deleted
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Export your data first if needed.
Security
When enabled by the deployment administrator, you can configure email OTP, multiple passkeys, and single-use recovery codes from Settings. You can also connect or disconnect the social/OIDC providers enabled for the deployment. See Security & Authentication.
Language and Currency
Choose English or German and select your personal currency from Settings. The currency preference syncs across devices and changes formatting and validation; it does not convert existing amounts. See Language & Currency.
